MTV Article on Twilight Synopsis

Friday, May 9th, 2008

MTV has a new blog post by Larry Carroll:

Whew, it sure has been a busy week for “Twilight” fans, with the new poster, new trailer, and all of those fan reaction videos. As if that weren’t enough, studio Summit Entertainment has released a new plot synopsis, which was just sent out to critics nationwide to help put the phenomenon on their collective radar.

Stephenie on NPR All Things Considered

Friday, May 9th, 2008

The three books in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series have already sold more than 5 million copies in the United States and now dominate bestseller lists for children’s books. Still, Meyer can’t get used to people calling her the next J.K. Rowling, because she loved the Harry Potter books before she even thought about being a writer.”I think the reason why we get the comparison is because our fans are actually similar,” says Meyer. “They have that same fanatical thing going on. They dress for the events. They come out early. They’re just so into the characters.”

LA Times article on Twilight

Friday, May 9th, 2008

“A lot of these teen adaptations just fizzle away,” he says. “The books don’t fizzle away, so why should the films? There’s something mad about that. I mean, even if this doesn’t get made into a trilogy — and I think it probably will be — this story is so perfect for a film. It just needs to have the right elements emphasized.”

Twilight Teaser Trailer Scores!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

The news just doesn’t stop!  There is a new article on Defamer.com about the twilight teaser trailer.

But after viewing Twilight’s trailer for ourselves, we couldn’t care less about records or the fate of Indiana What’s His Name. Why? The folks at Summit Entertainment managed to create excitement (and widespread teen titillation) not by appealing to HP dorks or Narnia obsessives, but rather by going the Gossip Girl route and putting together an ensemble cast comprised of barely known and ridiculously hot actors.

Creatures of the Night Captivating Readers!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

DallasNews.Com has an article about Stephenie Meyer.

The Host, a sci-fi tale about alien body snatchers, is billed as Ms. Meyer’s first book for adults. But it doesn’t stray far from the formula that made the Twilight series so successful, echoing the story line of a woman whose affection is divided, and dishing up plenty of romance without (much to the relief of millions of parents) sex.

We Can Break the Record! Go Watch the Twilight Trailer!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

EDIT: It is really live now!  Check it out!

The Official Twilight Movie Site is now live HERE.  I patiently waited through the countdown to see the teaser trailer appear on their site but it was a little anticlimactic.  It counted down and then simply said “TWILIGHTTHEMOVIE.COM IS NOW LIVE!” but no trailer appeared.  Yes I know I’ve seen it many times already but I want to see it on the official site!

So for now watch the trailer on myspace…. At least a dozen times!

Be sure to hit refresh between each viewing.  Make sure you watch it on myspace HERE or HERE so your view gets counted!

Article on Stephenie Meyer’s Kansas City Host Signing!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Stephenie Meyer Wows KC Crowd:

We joined the 1,000 fangirls (and a few boys) at author Stephenie Meyer’s sold-out talk Thursday at Unity Temple on the Plaza.

On why she’s drawn to characters who don’t fit in (quiet Bella in the Twilight series, insecure Wanderer in Host):

“How many books are about people who do fit in? Every single one of us feels like we are the exception. It’s a common human feeling.”

Another update from Stephenie’s Myspace Page

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Friday, May 09, 2008

Thanks, KC
Current mood: sleepy

I’m off to Texas (with no intentions of messing with it, let me assure you) in a few minutes. Before I leave Kansas City, I wanted to say thanks to all the amazing fans who showed up last night. Thanks for being so cool and so patient, and for laughing at my jokes. I wish I could spend some more time in KC–it’s gorgeous here! Tulips grow right up out of the ground and everything.

A note: I believe Kansas City now holds the record for the most male readers in attendance (somewhere around 35). Awesome.

Also: it took about four hours to get through the signing line last night. Just something to keep in mind if you’re number 1000 at an event.
