Midnight Sun

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Stephenie has posted part of Midnight Sun on her site.  For her explanation as to why it has been posted and to read this masterpeice please go HERE

The thread here on TwilightMOMS to discuss this is located in our Midnight Sun forum here

ETA: We have started a thread in the Midnight Sun forum so that you can write a message of support for Stephenie HERE.  We don’t know if Stephenie will stop by and read the thread but sometimes it helps to write our feelings down as part of the healing process.

The White Queen Project

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

We received this email from a fan and thought it was a great idea so we wanted to pass it on to you all-

For Roswell fans, it was hot sauce sent to the WB Studios that kept the show on the air.

For the Writer’s Guild, it was mail bins full of pencils that sent a message to the company executives.

Now, it’s up to Stephenie Meyer’s fans to show their support for a great writer and an amazing book series.

Entertainment Weekly, the same magazine that put Twilight on the cover and gave us articles about the movie, the actors and the author gave “Breaking Dawn” a “D” rating. That’s right; a “D”!

How are we going to send a message of support and show Entertainment Weekly that they’re wrong? By starting The White Queen Project!

Grab any white chess pieces that you have and send them (one at a time or all at once) with a letter (if you like) to:

Entertainment Weekly
c/o Jennifer Reese
1675 Broadway
New York, NY 10019

Let’s show our support for Stephenie Meyer and the great things that she’s done for her fans!

~There is a really cool video to go along with this email, but for some reason I can’t get it to embed here on the blog- grrrr!!!  Check it out HERE!!

Trying again- is the video here?

*We know that not everyone disagrees with Entertainment Weekly’s review of Breaking Dawn and we respect that. We are not suggesting in any way, shape or form that you have to love Breaking Dawn to be a part of TwilightMOMS.  This is a project started by a fan that disagreed and she has asked that we get the word out about the project.

MTV, MTV, & more MTV about Breaking Dawn in NYC!

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Lots of new MTV reports about the Breaking Dawn release in New York… First, MTV News correspondent Kim Stolz, who also hosted the concert and interviewed Stephenie before the event, participated in the TwilightLive panel at noon. Read the MTV summary of TwilightLive here and hopefully we can embed all the videos, too.  The first video is of Kim chatting with the panelists.  Lisa, we know you were on the panel.  We heard you on the podcast.. were you avoiding the cameras?  Where’s your report? Twilight Series Theories has put up several already…. here’s the link to their take on the MTV coverage. We haven’t heard a peep from you for what seems like days now.  We want the TwilightMOM inside scoop!  There were other TwilightMOMS in the audience.  We heard you guys!  MTV reported about TMs, told us things you guys said and did… come out and tell us your side if you’re done with the book. The forum isn’t open yet, but blog comments are on! (Link to video is here just in case…)

Nicole Guanlao, who calls herself both a Twilight fan & an MTV staffer, posted her full report with great pictures (including one of her unplanned encounter with Justin Furstenfeld after the concert) here in this article titled “One ‘Twilight’ Fan — And MTV Staffer– Has Night To Remember At Stephenie Meyer Concert Event.”

In this video, Kim Stolz talks to fans who show off their Twilight Tattoos after the concert with Stephenie Meyer and Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October.  Link is here, too, if video doesn’t play or disappears or whatever it is that happens whenever I try to embed videos in a blog post.

In this last video (link here, just in case again), Twilight fans finally get their hands on Breaking Dawn when it went on sale at 12:01 am.  This scene looks familiar to you, doesn’t it?  It could be almost any one of you reading this blog- there at midnight, buying the book.  Just minus the MTV cameras following you around, right?  Or maybe you waited ’til a sane hour of daylight or for Amazon to deliver as promised? So, tell us, how did you get your copy of Breaking Dawn?

Thanks again MTV!

August 2 is finally here! Is the lock down over yet? Is anyone even reading the blog?

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

August 2 is finally here!  And so the Stephenie Meyer-requested lock down should be over, right?  Yes, that lock down is officially over because many of us have the book in our hands. (Sorry Kindle readers and TwilightMOMS around the world with later release dates.  Hopefully the time will pass quickly… okay, that was just mean.  We know how horribly slow these hours must be ticking by…)

We gave the entire TwilightMOM staff the Breaking Dawn Holiday Weekend off- one of the perks of the job!  Now the lock down is self-imposed.  Many of us are busy reading & partying and traveling to get back from all the reading & partying so we can start reading & partying on TwilightMOMS!  So, when will this party start again?  Inspiredbytwilight announced the date and time here.

“Our forums will reopen on Monday, August 4th at Noon Eastern Time, 9 am Pacific”

Inspired also shared this excellent advice:

“Warning: Do not visit the forums until you have finished the book!!!  We don’t want anyone to get accidentally spoiled!”

We are turning comments back on the blog, though.  Not that we’ll be posting much, if at all, but there’s lots of news to catch up.

So, until August 4th, then! We can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts about August’s Book of the Month.  Hey, did anyone ask the author if she’d be willing to answer a few questions?  Oh, that’s right.  She’s touring the country right now doing just that!  We can’t wait for this first batch of Q&As to come out of Chicago next Tuesday.  *Calling all Chicago TwilightMOMS & anyone else lucky enough to be there!*  Will you guys get those Q and As to us? It’s not being broadcast on EW.com or on iClips. (BTW, what’s up with EW “rebroadcasting” the NY concert at midnight this morning- you know, right when the book was finally released? When lots of us were at book stores all around the country buying our books?  Why not rebroadcast it tonight instead? Just wondering…)

On to the news- we’ll start with some of the best Stephenie Meyer news

  • Variety published this article here called ‘Stephenie Meyer Women’s Impact Report: Brand-Name Sensations.’
