Stephenie on Ryan Seacrest tomorrow morning!

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Stephenie has just updated her MySpace Blog-

Kind of last minute, but just a heads up. I’m going to be on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show tomorrow morning around 7ish Pacific time. This is to the best of my knowledge in this moment; something important might come up in entertainment news and then I’ll be cancelled like Matt Damon on Jimmy Kimmel, so no guarantees. I promise to do my part, i.e. set my alarm clock.

If you live outside of the Ryan’s broadcast area you can listen live on his site HERE

Positivity and rock brilliance
Current mood: trying

I have decided that I will focus on the positive for as long as I can stand my own annoying cheeriness. Go-go-gadget optimism!

In keeping with that goal, I figure now is a good time to explain my current happy distraction. People have been asking me “What’s the deal with you directing a music video? That’s cool but… so random.” I couldn’t agree more.

This is what happened. I was just minding my own business when I got an email from my pal Del, who is a music promoter. (See that picture on my front page of me standing next to my idol? Del was the one who hooked that up. Del is the one who convinced musician extraordinaire and all-around-amazing-super-person, Justin Furstenfeld, to come on tour with me and make my signings awesome. Del is all things bright and beautiful.) Del tells me that Jack’s Mannequin–one of my favorite bands–was interested in going outside the normal music channels with their new video. They saw that I was a big fan, and they wondered if I would be interested in writing a treatment for this new video. Oh and here–do I want to listen to the brand new song that isn’t available yet? (It’s called The Resolution and it’s on the radio now and it is beautiful and brilliant and so many other words. Go listen to it.) And I’m trying to pay attention but mostly I’m thinking, “Holy crap, Jack’s Mannequin KNOWS MY NAME.”

Well, I don’t say no to offers like that. I say, “I am absolutely on board. By the way, what is a treatment?”

Turns out, a treatment is the visual story that goes along with the song. I always come up with stories in my head when I listen to music, so this is not a stretch for me. I listened to the song and it was so full of possibilities that I came up with a bunch of ideas without even having to strain myself. I wrote up two and sent them to the band. They wanted to do one of them. I was slightly dumbstruck that they really chose it. Then they tell me that, in order to preserve my vision, they want me to direct the video. I was more than dumbstruck by that–I was (dare I say it?) CHAGRINNED (bwahahahaha). I have seen a director in action (Catherine the Amazing), so I know that directing is brutally hard and is not for people who don’t know what they’re doing. People like me. But all is well. A real director who DOES know what he is doing is going to make sure I don’t destroy the entire planet with my ineptitude. I’m nervous that I still might destroy at least one continent despite his help, but how could I not do this? When I’m sixty, I don’t want to look back at a life of amazing things I might have done.

The story is a very pretty, very dark little fable. I’m really excited to see how it all turns out. And–if I’m brave enough to ask–to get a picture with another one of my favorite musicians

Movie date
Current mood: groggy

Just a few things about the new release Nov. 21st release date for Twilight:

1) I have no idea how this affects international release dates. I’m not exactly in the loop on those kinds of things. Hopefully that information will be available soon. I’ll see what I can find out…

2) I’m really, really sorry for any inconvenience the new schedule is causing people. I feel your pain. Let’s just say that my Thanksgiving plans are going through a major overhaul, too.

3) Looking on the bright side, this new release date means that Twilight will get to be on more screens–a lot more. That might mean a shorter drive for some people.

Notes on quotes (I’m a poet)
Current mood: ninja

A few things to keep in mind about the teaser quotes beginning tomorrow:

1. They are out of context.

2. They are out of order.

3. Some of them are purposely misleading.

4. I have a twisted sense of humor.

(Number four is really the key point there.)

The quotes will probably show up around midnight EST, but no guarantees on that. Sleep is always my first priority.

The quotes will be on my website, too, but I’m not sure what time my brother will have them up. (There is a new little webmaster due any day now, so my site might have some lag time in the near future.)

ETA: to answer Nichole’s question below, the quotes will all be listed in order on my website, so you won’t miss any if you’re away from the computer for a few days.

Enjoy the quotes….and don’t go TOO crazy trying to make sense of them.

The Host Tour Stats on Stephenie Meyer’s MySpace Blog 6/5/08

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Steph doles out awards to the cities she visited on The Host Tour in her myspace blog:

“Records from the road (The Host Tour: Part II)
Current mood: refreshed

Best T-shirts/costumes: Salt Lake City

Smoothest event: Denver (So is the superpower of the Denver-ites super-efficiency? Or is it super-politeness? Or do they have some kind of control over the space-time continuum? More research is required.)

Most familiar faces + most movie stars in attendance: Portland

Most boy fans: Los Angeles (37—and we only counted actually readers this time, though there were many supportive dads, brothers, uncles, husbands, and boyfriends in attendance.)

Loudest: definitely San Diego. (They also came in very close in the boy-fan and the familiar faces categories. It was a good place to wrap up my last big tour.)”

Message from Stephenie about Breaking Dawn & Copyright Issues

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Stephenie updated her myspace blog today with the following message:

“Copyright issues
Current mood: jedi

As some of you may have noticed, many people who have typed out or scanned either the entire books, portions of the books or first chapter of Breaking Dawn have received (or should be receiving) a message from their hosting companies that notices were sent from my publisher to take the content down. I know people are eager to share their excitement about my books, which I love, but you may not be aware that making portions of the book available for download is violating my copyright (unless you have written permission from me or my publisher). Quoting a sentence or two is fine, but anything beyond that is in violation of copyright. Basically, copyright gives an author control over where, when and how her work is made available to the public. This exists to protect the author and her work – a lot of effort has been put into creating these books for you to enjoy — so I hope people cooperate in respecting the copyright for all my novels.

Thanks!”
